What to expect when you live here

Dubai's culture is rooted in Islam and is considered to be a religion that actively encourages tolerance, so it's no surprise to see Roman Catholic, Anglican and Evangelical churches throughout the city. Religious tolerance is one of the core principles on which the modern city of Dubai was founded.

Courtesy and hospitality are also highly prized virtues of Islam and there are certain courtesies the visitor must respect in return. Women should dress modestly, covering shoulders, upper arms and knees. This is especially important during Ramadan. The citizens of the emirates tend not to drink alcohol, especially in public so it's important just to bear this in mind if you enjoy alcohol when socialising.

We are sure that you'll find Dubai a welcoming and enjoyable city to live and work in and any values that might seem alien to you will become usual as you settle in.
